Andrzej Wróblewski undertook to enforce the new social and political tasks of art while still a student at the Academy of Fine Arts. His aim was to work out his own formula for “exponential realism”, a trend proposed in 1946 by Tadeusz Kantor, based on the idea of communicative, expressive message. The Bus Driver is Wróblewski’s third work of art – next to Blue Driver (1948) and Driver with Red Landscape – presenting the world as seen by a bus driver.
